An Affordable Solution to Morbid Obesity
The LAP BAND system is currently the newest treatment for morbid obesity and weight loss in the United States. It’s also the only surgical treatment option that is adjustable. The band restricts how much food that a person can consume by decreasing the stomach’s capacity.
Not only is it the only adjustable treatment option, but it’s also the only reversible one. Once inserted into the patient, the band can be either loosened or tightened via an attached balloon. All adjustments are outpatient procedures that only require a few minutes.
We provide all of the necessary assistance that you need, including hotel, hospital and flight reservations, airport transportation, medical appointments and so on.
The LAP BAND operation may require a full day in the hospital, but it depends on the procedure.
The surgery itself only requires about 30 to 60 minutes, and most patients will stay throughout the night. However, most patients can go back to their normal routine after about a week.

Who is it for?
Mexico LAP BAND surgery is a bariatric procedure that is performed in the same way as other gastric bypass procedures. You are qualified if you satisfy the following criteria:
- Obese
- Have a BMI over 35
- You are 18-70 years old
- Have one (or more) illnesses caused by your weight
Your stomach’s anatomy will be altered during the operation so that its capacity is reduced. This will ensure that you consume fewer calories throughout the day, which will lead to losing weight.
How it Works
In 2001, the FDA allowed for this adjustable gastric band to be used in weight loss operations. Prior to the surgery, you must go through several tests, such as gastroscopy, blood tests and imaging to ensure that you will be safe during the operation.
The band is inserted using laparoscopic techniques, which relies on making small incisions to insert the inflatable silicone band. This improves your healing time. The band will sit around the upper part of your stomach so that it can create a small pouch that limits how much food you can eat in one sitting. This ensures that patients feel full faster than usual, which allows them to be satisfied with a small amount of food. Since this limits calories, you will lose weight without feeling hungry.
This is considered the least traumatic surgery when compared to other procedures used to treat obesity. This is because surgeons do not have to make large cuts or staple the stomach together.
The benefits of the laparoscopic approach are less pain, a quicker recovery and your hospital stay will be reduced. Not only that, but the band can be removed and the stomach will typically return to normal.
This ensures that the risk of surgery is very low, and patient discomfort is virtually non-existent. The two biggest benefits are that the band can be adjusted or completely removed.
As an adjustable option, the band’s diameter can be changed to meet your specific needs. For example, a pregnant patient would want the band expanded to ensure that the growing fetus gets enough nutrition. Or, patients that aren’t losing a significant amount of weight can have the band tightened to further reduce their calorie consumption.
The band’s size is changed by adding or removing saline or another similar solution via a thin needle. The band has tubing that connects to a reservoir, which is located under the skin when the surgery is finished. This allows the surgeon to easily control the size of the band.
Most surgeries will only last about 45-60 minutes and they are performed under general anesthesia.
The Results
Patients will have a smaller stomach after the surgery, which will reduce false hunger signs. This will also make you feel full after a smaller serving of food. The band itself will be adjusted based on your weight loss results.
If your stomach must be narrowed to further reduce calories, the physician will add saline to enlarge the band. The initial amount of saline that is added to the band will be based on your current condition after surgery. While you will probably leave the hospital the same or next day, it typically takes about 4-6 weeks to fully recover.
The Cost
The total costs include: surgeon fees, preoperative fees, medicine costs, hospital bills and any other miscellaneous charges. It’s also a good idea to fulfill the postoperative steps, such as psychological and nutritional counseling, along with regular follow ups. The cost in the US is normally around $16,000-$30,000, but getting the procedure done in Mexico can save you thousands. Check our packages for the exact pricing.
